Here’s everything you need to know ⬇️

What’s Changing?

NBN is boosting its three higher-tier residential plans to make your home internet faster than ever. Here’s our plans that are receiving this upgrade:

Townsville Internet September Speed Increase

Our Family Plan increases from 100/20Mbps to 500/50Mbps*

Our Entertainment Plan increases from 500/25Mbps to 750/50Mbps*

Our Ultimate Gaming Plan increases from 1000/50Mbps to 1000/100Mbps*

*Evening speeds are currently unknown, we will update our website when they become available

Who Gets the Upgrade?

The upgraded speeds only applies to customers on eligible plans with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections. You can check your connection type here. Fibre to the Node (FTTN) and Fibre to the Complex (FTTC) aren’t eligible.

If you’re eligible, there’s nothing you need to do, you’ll automatically get the new speeds shortly after it is rolled out.

If you’re on a lower tier plan and want these new speeds, you can upgrade to an eligible plan. Whether you do this before or after the rollout, you’ll still get the speeds.

If you don’t have an appropriate connection type, you can check your upgrade eligibility here. If you’re eligible, Townsville Internet can help facilitate the upgrade.

Why This Matters

  • A much needed improvement: Australia’s internet has often lagged behind other developed nations, this is a major step toward catching up.

  • NBN giving back: After years of complaints about poor service and price hikes, this upgrade will be much appreciated.

  • Faster uploads: Perfect for video calls, content creators, and anyone who uploads large files.

  • Future-ready internet: These speeds set the stage for next-gen tech like AI applications, cloud gaming, and VR experiences.

What About Pricing?

These speeds are being provided at no additional cost to ISPs, however some providers may still decide to increase their prices. Townsville Internet won’t be, whatever price you currently pay, you’ll continue to pay. We recommend double checking with your provider in case they will increase prices.
